Emily & Dylan's Southern Pines Engagement Session

March 15, 2018

Last summer, I had the pleasure of a sunrise engagement session with Emily & Dylan in Downtown Southern Pines and at the Weymouth Center for the Arts.  We were up in time to catch the sun just as it was rising and capture some truly stunning images.

Emily & Dylan are both in the military, Emily even works with my husband which is how I had the pleasure of meeting them. I often work with military couples and families. As the spouse of someone in the military, I can personally relate to their struggles, their lifestyle, and they way being a military family impacts relationships.

I find that with my military couples we are able to just jump right in, as if we were old friends. There is a level of comfort and understanding between us that helps my couples feel more at ease in front of the camera.

Another thing that I loved about this session was their choice of outfits. If you are wondering what you should wear for your own engagement session, take a hint from Emily and Dylan. The outfits you choose for your engagement photos should exude with your personal styles, be clothing you feel comfortable and relaxed in, and that make you feel like a million bucks! They didn't wear anything extra fancy, or over the top. They simply were themselves and made sure that their colors did not clash! When choosing your color palette, it can be helpful to look up color combos that go together, rather than matching perfectly. Using different shades of the same color can also look fantastic!

For this session, we ventured to downtown Southern Pines and then to the Weymouth Center for the Arts, which you can see more of in Sam & Sammie's engagement session.  I simply love doing sessions in the gardens at Weymouth. No matter the season, these gardens are stunning.
