Last October, I met up with Sam and Sammie to photograph their engagement session at Weymouth Center for the Arts in Southern Pines, NC. This stunning historical property with it's lush gardens was the perfect setting for their engagement photos.
Sam is in the Army and Sammie is a teacher, and actually babysits for me occasionally, that is how we met! I was so glad to be able to take her and Sam's engagement photos. They are such a delightful couple! Their wedding will take place in Portland, OR where they are from.
Sam was worried that he would be awkward in front of the camera, something I hear quite often. But once we started shooting, he felt comfortable enough to let loose and have fun. When I work with couples who aren't used to being photographed, I like to give them prompts and cues rather than poses. It allows them to react naturally and interact with either other, creating photos that are more authentic and relaxed.
The Weymouth Center for the Arts is a wonderful place to have a photo session or even your wedding! The property was bought in the early 1900's by the Boyd Family of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. They wanted to preserve the 1200 acres of Long Leaf Pine trees and establish a retreat for artists and writers. The Georgian mansion was built in 1922 by the family and now is a historical site. The Weymouth Center holds regular events for writers, poets, artists, and historians, educational programs, and is available for private events and weddings!
If you are interested in scheduling an engagement photo session at the Weymouth Center for the Arts, get in touch. I would love to return to this gorgeous property! But of course, I would also love to discover and explore new places with you as well!
